Like a mountaineer's morale booster the flavours arrived wrapped in heavy oak and a thin layer of linseed oil

The neat taste had tongue-numbing menthol and eucalyptus and made us think of figs

After 20 years maturation in an Oloroso puncheon this whisky was transferred to a 1st fill Oloroso hogshead

To taste it is almost fat in texture

With a drop of water we were making damson jam as well as a dark fruit loaf, cinder toffee and roasted honey glazed carrots. On the palate very different, at first plenty of ash and tobacco was soon followed by the zingy, sweet tart
